About WISE Online
High School
Accreditation
The WISE program has earned the seals of the
three most prestigious accrediting agencies in education:
CITA, SACS, and DETC.
Prospective students and their parents can be assured that
the entire WISE program has met the highest standards achievable
today and has the accreditations to stand behind our claim
of excellence in online education.
CITA
The Commission on International and
Trans-Regional Accreditation.
CITA
is the "gold standard" and most rapidly growing
educational accreditation agency in the world. Widely recognized
by educators around the world and accepted as the leader in
advancing quality school improvement, CITA is affiliated with
more than 32,000 schools, 20 million students, and one million
teachers worldwide.
SACS
The Southern Association Council on
Accreditation and School Improvement
SACS is
the regional accreditation agency for school quality and operations
in the southern states. Our Richard Milburn High School division
is based in Virginia, within the SACS territory. SACS works
under the auspices of CITA and is one of seven regional accrediting
agencies serving schools throughout the US.
DETC
Distance Education and Training Council
DETC is
the national accreditation agency for distance education and
independent learning institutions. The WISE program, through
Richard Milburn High School, became an accredited member of
DETC in 1994 and has maintained its standing during each five-year program review cycle. DETC’s mission is to foster
and preserve high quality, educationally sound, and widely
accepted distance education programs and institutions. DETC
works to ensure that accredited distance learning remains
a viable and effective method of education and training for
learners of all ages and in all places.
