WISE - DODEA Attendance
Students are expected to regularly attend and
participate in the WISE classroom. Students who do not follow
WISE attendance procedures may be withdrawn from class.
Attendance is defined by evidence that a student
has logged into class, submitted an assignment, or interacted
with a class group within any continuous 48 hour period. We
receive daily attendance data online.
Attendance Policy
Unless otherwise approved by the teacher, each student must
login daily to WISE classes. Any student who does not login
within any continuous 48 hour period is considered absent.
If this absence continues for more than 72 hours, the student
may be automatically withdrawn.
Attendance Tracking & Monitoring
Student attendance is tracked by the course software, teachers
and the WISE Guidance Office. Although WISE students are required
to login daily, they are allowed a 48 hour window of opportunity
to participate prior to being officially recorded as absent
from class.
If a student fails to login within 48 hours, the instructor
emails the student a copy of the WISE Attendance Policy and
Guidelines and directs the student to immediately verify their
intentions to attend and participate in class. If the student
does not respond to this email and continues to be absent
for a continuous 72 hour period (without teacher approval),
the teacher/and or a WISE academic counselor will email and
telephone the parents to confirm the student's intent. If neither the
student nor the parent responds within the next 24 hours, the
student will be withdrawn from class.
Attendance Reporting
Any student who fails to login within any continuous 48 hours
period is reported as absent to the WISE Central Office and
WISE Guidance Office.
Students who continue to be absent for any continuous 72
hour period (or more) without teacher approval are reported
as being absent to the WISE Central Office, WISE Guidance
Office, and home school guidance counselor (or contracting
office) with notification of intent to withdraw the student.
